New York Comic Con 2015

As some of you know, me and my boys over at The CCD Art & Supply Co. will have a booth at this years New York Comic Con (a fact which I couldn't be more excited about!). We'll have prints of some really excellent art work for sale, plus all sorts of other giveaways, treats and prizes. Its going to be a really fun time and I hope you all will stop by our booth, #222, in "the Block" section of the convention floor!

In deciding on subject matter for my prints, I tried to think of stuff that might have cult/niche appeal. I didn't want to just do my versions of Star Wars or Marvel characters and bank on someone liking mine over everyone else's

My first piece is Beetlejuice in pen, ink and marker. I figured with the news of the possible sequel going around, the ghost with the most might spark some interest,

Check out more of my Comic Con pieces after the jump!

"It Shoots Through Schools"

This one was done for CCD's "Valentine's Day Massacre" art show. The theme was gangster movies, and I got assigned Johnny Dangerously, one of my favorites. I did Joe Piscopo as Danny Vermin, paint, pen, ink and marker on canvas. Not my best work, but I still kinda like it.

Inktober Sketches

The inktober hashtag inspired me to do some fun pen work with whatever I had in my office. Well, that and the soul-crushing boredom of being in my office.

Thor-frog was done in ballpoint pen, highlighter and marker.  More after the jump!

Freddy Kruger

Freddy Kruger, a Sketch Lottery entry done in pen, ink marker and crayon. I really like this piece because the composition is entirely my own. I didn't use anything for a pose/lighting reference, which was hard for me at the time.

Sunspot

One of the original members of the New Mutants, done for Sketch Lottery in pen, ink and marker. I love the crackle of the energy coming off of him. Fun stuff.

'66 Batgirl

Batgirl '66 was done for CCD's Batman '66 collection. She's pen, ink and marker with some digital clean up. Wish I could've gotten the Yvonne Craig likeness a little better,

Licensed To Ill

This one was for CCD's Album Cover-themed art show. The idea was to pick an album, and imagine the band asked you to listen to it and design the album art for them. I went with Licensed to Ill - the first album I've ever owned, and one that's been on "repeat" for most of my life. From the time I was a kid, I always found the Beastie Boys' lyrics to be really evocative. Literally every song on the album conjures some very vivid imagery, and even though its all of a bombastic, over the top, party lifestyle, that the Beasties in later years admitted was done in jest, it still kind of resonates to me when I listen today. The piece is done in pen, ink, marker and crayon. The items on the table, aside from the Beasties' licenses to ill, are all items mentioned in the songs on the album. Can you spot them all?
